The Right on Times does not disclose any partnership with Epoch, nor do both websites share a unique digital identifier. But when it was launched in October, its articles were posted on social media by Epoch staff. Right on Times also had a major advertising campaign on Epoch properties, and included several articles on Epoch properties. Those actions led Disinformation researchers, including those in the Global Disinformation Index, to conclude that there was coherence.
The Epoch Times stated that Right on Times was one of its advertisers, and that Aapmaker was an “independent business partner”. The sagebook, the company said, was being phased out. (As of last week, the Sagebook site was no longer accessible.)
“The premise of your article is incorrect,” the company said in an email. “The Epoch Times does not deal in conspiracy theories. We take pride in rigorous, fact-based reporting that has attracted a large and rapidly growing audience.”
Epoch remains the largest media brand operated by the media group The apache times, Which regularly publishes pro-Trump misinformation. According to data from website analytics company IcyWeb, Epach started using alternative social media platforms such as Sagebook and YouMaker in the late 2020s. According to similar figures, Sagebook attracted 38,000 monthly visitors and Times on Right saw 15,000.
