Quebec City police on Sunday arrested a man dressed in medieval costumes, believed to have killed at least two people and stabbed several people on Halloween.
The attacks occurred late Saturday night in a neighborhood near the Quebec Provincial Parliament House. Police said they began a search for a man who carried out the attack, described as wearing a medieval dress and wielding a sword, after receiving a call just before 10:30 p.m.
Police advised residents to escape from the Parliament Hill neighborhood and stay inside to search for the attacker.
Police said they arrested one person shortly before 1pm on Sunday, but advised residents to remain inside while the investigation was going on.
The police spokesman said two people were killed and five were injured. The person arrested was in his mid-20s, the spokesman said, without providing further details.
