An 18-year-old man from Texas was arrested in the fatal shooting of actor Eddie Hasel last weekend, which on Thursday was described by police as a “random robbery” that turned deadly.
The department said a man named D’Jon Anton was arrested Wednesday by the US Marshals Service and the Grand Prairie Police Department “without incident”. He is charged with one murder, with a $ 500,000 surety.
It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Anton was a lawyer. His relatives could not immediately be reached for comment, and a spokesman for the Tarant County District Attorney’s Office said they had no additional information.
The 30-year-old Mr. Hassell was known for his roles in the NBC show “Surface” and the 2010 film “The Children Are Right”. He was Shot outside his girlfriend’s apartment in the Grand Prairie, A Dallas suburb, according to its representative Alan Mills, at around 1 p.m. Mr Mills said the actor was shot in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Mr. Anton was arrested in Dallas, where he lives, an officer of the Grand Prairie Police, Officer Mark Baceda, said by telephone on Thursday. Officer Baceda said the department had not released further details about the robbery, although a car was taken which was not Mr. Hassail’s.

Mr. Haasel, who lived in Waco, Texas, appeared in “Surface,” a sci-fi show about “new, and often dangerous, species of marine life,” which starred actress Lake Bell, and in 2005 Aired in 2006. According to IMDb.
He played the pill-snorting teenager Clay in “The Kids Are All Right” and in the 2013 film “Jobs”, Mr. Hasell played Chris Espinosa, who built the circuit board for a neighbor named Steve Jobs.
Mr. Haasel’s family could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
